Rest in Peace dear Rocky

Art is visual communication. I have written about this before.

We “speak” with color harmonies, values, edge control, shapes and line.

Those elements become our words, sentences, paragraphs and stories.

When I paint, I put my feelings and emotions into each painting.

Through the years I have painted many, many different subjects.

One of my favorite subjects has been cats, especially my cats.

Rocky has been my model for the past 13 years.

In 2005, sweet little Rocky caught our eyes and our hearts. He was adopted from

our local Humane society and quickly became the clown/lover of the house.

13 years have passed, and many paintings of him. He died on Friday, leaving behind so many memories and so many paintings. I am so glad that I took the time to sketch and paint our little buddy. He inspired me to paint so many paintings.

Here is a tiny video tribute to our Rocky and his paintings.

As an artist, I highly recommend drawing and painting those people and pets that you love.

Someday you will be so glad that you did.  I sure am glad.
